Saturday (Oct 7th) was World Card Making Day and as always it was a day filled with laughter, friendships and card making, of course.
For the 5th year in a row, my dear friend Shelli, has organized this amazing event and I am thrilled to have been invited again this year to participate with her along with 4 other Stampin’ Up! demonstrators.
It is a great way for us as demonstrators to gather with our teams and share of love of ink, paper and stamps with our customers and their friends and family.
I love being able to learn what other demonstrators have tried successfully and also those things that may have become an “embellishment opportunity” or a “happy accident”.
I would love to have you as part of our team or as a guest at our next event. If you are interested in either of these, please click here and e-mail me.
World Card Making Day 2017 from L to R: Gwen, Dana, Shelli, Dawn, Kelea, Amy
Here are a few pictures from the day.
Snack and Card Making Tables ready!
Waiting for our guests to arrive!
Let the Party Begin!
The doors opened at 9 a.m. and the festivities were in full swing.
We hosted 50 lovely ladies…lots of mothers/daughter/sisters and friend groups. We even had a gal that traveled all the way from Vermont (that is approximately 2600 miles) to make cards with us!
Wow-that is card making dedication!
As you can see from the pics, we had lots of fun together.
What did we make?
I have to admit, I am terrible about taking pictures especially at events like this because I get too busy chit chatting.
So…that being said, I only have pics of my own projects taken prior to the Saturday.
I shared the cards from the Watercolor Christmas Project Kit because I think they are FABULOUS!
And easy for all levels of stampers-from novice to experienced.
Maybe next year you can join us.

What does a “Cracked Pot” have to do with stamping?
These are questions I get asked pretty regularly.
And the answer could be very different depending on whom you ask, as it could have several different meanings.
But here is my reason, please sit back and enjoy the story.
The Cracked Pot: A Story for Anyone Who’s Not Quite Perfect
A water bearer in India had two large pots hanging at the ends of a pole that he carried across his neck. One of the pots was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master’s house. The other pot had a crack in it, and by the time it reached its destination, it was only half full. Every day for two years the water bearer delivered only one and one-half pots of water to the master’s house.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments-perfect to the end for which it was made. The poor little cracked pot was ashamed of its imperfections and miserable that it could accomplish only half of what it had been designed to do. After two years of what the imperfect pot perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer and said, “I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you.”
“Why?” asked the bearer, “What are you ashamed of?”
“Well, for these past two years, I have been able to deliver only half a load of water each day because this crack in my side allows water to leak out all the way back to the master’s house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all this work without getting the full value of your efforts,” the pot said.
The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, “As we return to the master’s house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path.” Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot noticed the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because half of its load had leaked out once again.
Then the bearer said to the pot, “Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path and not on the other pot’s side? That’s because I’ve always known about your flaw and took advantage of it by planting flower seeds on your side of the path. Every day as we walked back from the stream, you watered those seeds, and for two years I have picked these beautiful flowers to decorate my master’s table. Without you being just what you are, he would not have had this beauty to grace his house.”
And that my friend, is why I chose the name Cracked Pot, because we are all “cracked” in one way or another. But despite our flaws and cracks we can accomplish many beautiful and wonderful things, I happen to use my gifts to make others happy with a few simple tools of ink, paper and stamps. I hope that you remember this story and use your talents accordingly because the most beautiful things in life often come from the broken pieces.
If you would like to use your talents to spread happiness using stamps, ink and paper, I would love to have you join my community of “cracked pots”.
It’s super simple.
