Cable Knit Christmas Quilt Coming Soon

Cable Knit Christmas Quilt?

I know it is the middle of August but Christmas will be here before you know it.

And I thought maybe (and that is a BIG maybe) this year I would try to be better prepared by beginning to create my Christmas cards now.

Never to early to get in the Christmas spirit-especially when it is 100 plus degrees outside.

So with this week’s challenge, I am officially jumping in and starting to dream about a white Christmas with kids sneaking peeks at packages under the Christmas tree.

For DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #244. Featuring Stampin' Up! colors-Real Red, Garden Green and Whisper White. For details, click through to my blog. #crackedpotstamper #stampinup #handstamped via @DawnThomas (CrackedPotStamper)

This week I was inspired by the gorgeous color combination.

Which I just now realize, I created my card using the wrong color of red.

Oops-I used Real Red instead of Cherry Cobbler!

I love the ribbon on this card, it reminds me of the old fashioned ribbon candy.

Ink Refills-DOstamper STARS Thursday Challenge No.242

This week’s DOstamper STARS Thursday Challenge is a “Product Spotlight” featuring Stampin’ Up! Ink Refills.

And you thought Stampin’ Up! Ink Refills were only for re-inking your stamp pads…

For the DOstamper STARS Thursday Challenge NO.242 featuring Stampin' Up! Ink Refills. For more details click through to my blog. #crackedpotstamper #stampinup #inkrefill #handstamped via @DawnThomas (Cracked Pot Stamper)

This week I was inspired by finding ways to use Stampin’ Up! Ink Refills for something more exciting than merely re-inking my stamp pads.

I love that there is no stamping (unless you want to add a sentiment inside) on this card but it is filled with lots of fun and beads of silica gel (Warning: DO NOT EAT)!

For DOstamper STARS Thursday Challenge No: 242 featuring Stampin' Up! Ink Refills, Lovely Words Thinlits Dies. For more details and instructions click through to my blog. #crackedpotstamper #stampinup #inkrefill #lovelywords #handstamped via @DawnThomas (Cracked Pot Stamper)

What did I use to create this beauty? (scroll down for complete supply list and links)

Stamp Set: N/A

Paper: Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper, Berry Burst, Soft Sky, Window Sheet

Ink: Ink Refills

Accessories: Berry Burst Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon

Tools: Lovely Words Thinlits, Layering Oval Framelits, Big Shot

For DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge No:242 featuring Stampin' Up! Ink Refills, Lovely Words Thinlits Dies. For details and instructiions click through to my blog #crackedpotstamper #stampinup #inkrefill #lovelywords #handstamped via @DawnThomas (Cracked Pot Stamper)

It’s All in the Details:

  • “shaker” equates to silica beads
  • yes, the kind that you find in new purses and luggage and such

Crazy! Right? I colored them with my Stampin’ Up! Ink Refills to match my card

It’s easy as 1-2-3

  1. cut open silica packet and place beads in small container (I used an empty embellishment container)
  2. add 3-5 drops of Stampin’ Up! Ink Refill
  3. put lid on and shake
Lovely Words Shaker Card
  1. Die cut “friend” from Peekaboo Peach cardstock using Lovely Words Thinlits Dies and the largest scalloped oval from Layering Oval Framelits. Die cut Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper with large oval to create window. Glue “friend” cutout onto Designer Series Paper with Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen. Set aside to dry.
  2. Using Big Shot and Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, emboss Soft Sky cardstock, adhere to Berry Burst card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fast Fuse adhesive.
  3. Adhere Window Sheet to Designer Series Paper with Fast Fuse. Tie double bow with Berry Burst Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, adhere with Glue Dots to Designer Series Paper.
  4.  Create safe place Silica beads to shake around in by adhering Adhesive Foam Strips around oval window area (we don’t want any of those little buggers to escape!)
  5. Carefully place a pile of silica beads on card base (they get a little excited and like to roll around-I put my card base on a paper plate in an effort to contain them). Align and adhere Designer Series Paper layer over silica beads. And shake, shake, shake!
  6. Address the envelope, adhere stamp and pop in the mailbox to brighten someone’s day.

TIP: I prefer Fast Fuse for getting into all the nooks and crannies of embossed layers.

Cardstock Cuts
  • Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper: 3-3/4″ x 5″
  • Berry Burst: 4-1/4″ x 11″ (card base-scored and folded at 5-1/2″)
  • Soft Sky: 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Peekaboo Peach: 2-3/4″ x 3-1/2″
  • Window Sheet: 2-3/4″ x 3-1/2″

Always take the scenic route.

DOstamper STARS Thursday Challenge No. 237: Jar of Love and Eastern Beauty Friendship

DOstamper STARS Thursday Challenge No. 237. Home Sweet Home Challenge.

Time for the DOstamper STARS Thursday Challenge, this week it is a “Home Sweet Home” Challenge.

I was inspired by the red, white and blue colors but as I was thinking back over the craziness of the last 2 weeks for our family, I remembered the fireflies my daughter and I saw one evening as we were out for a drive.

It was one of those special moments that you want to last forever…

cool summer evening

fireflies

and a sweet baby girl.

Life is good.

Created for DOstamper STARS Thursday Challenge number 237 by Dawn Thomas. Featuring Jar of Love stamp set paired with Eastern Beauty stamp set combined with Ruffled 3D embossing folder. For details, click through to my blog. #crackedpotstamper #stampinup

I love the fireflies and the childhood memories that this card evoked for me. Hope it does the same for you!

What did I use to create this beauty? (scroll down to bottom for complete supply list and links)

  • Stamp Set: Jar of Love and Eastern Beauty
  • Paper: Night of Navy, Real Red, So Saffron and Whisper White
  • Ink: Basic Gray. So Saffron and Real Red

Jar of Love Friends Card
  1. Adhere 4 pieces of 13/16″ x 5-1/2″ Real Read cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Whisper White cardstock to create striped background layer. Emboss using NEW Ruffled 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Trim to 4″ x 5-1/4″, adhere to Night of Navy base (4-1/2″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″). TIP: use a generous amount of adhesive when working with embossed layers to ensure a good strong bond between layers.
  2. Stamp sentiment (Eastern Beauty stamp set) on Whisper White cardstock with Archival Basic Gray ink. Die cut with 1-7/8″ or second from smallest circle (Stitched Shapes Framelits). Use NEW Starburst Punch to create Night of Navy base for sentiment. Adhere sentiment to punched base.
  3. On Whisper White cardstock stamp fireflies and large jar (Jar of Love stamp set) with Archival Basic Gray ink, stamp ribbon with Real Red ink. Die cut images with coordinating framelits (Everyday Jars Framelits).
  4. Use Cookie Cutter Builder Punch to create the “glow” (small So Saffron circle) on the firefly’s bottom. Adhere to die cut firefly with Stampin’ Dimensional. TIP: I trimmed the edge piece of the Stampin’ Dimensional sheet to get the right size and shape.

This card would be a great way to reach out and let that special someone in your life know that you’re thinking of them. Maybe it is a childhood friend that you spent summer evenings with chasing fireflies. Or a relative that you shared summer holidays with. Or maybe it is someone new in your life that you are looking forward to creating memories with. Whomever it is, take a moment and let them know how much you appreciate their friendship. xo

Always take the scenic route.
