Beautiful Promenade Recessed Panel Card

Strong & Beautiful pairs perfectly with Beautiful Promenade.

For all the strong and beautiful people in your life, especially the women.

Stampin' Up! Strong & Beautiful stamp set. For all the strong and beautiful people in your life, especially the women.

Today, I want to share with you the Recessed Panel Technique.

I had never tried this technique when the Stamping with the Stars group decided to create and share this type of card.

Since I didn’t have a clue how to do it, I do what I always do when I need creative inspiration…

I searched Pinterest for “Recessed Panel” and lickity split, up popped tons of inspiration and instructional videos!

I love the fact that this technique is…

  1. Super Easy
  2. Can be used for any occasion
  3. a Great way to use Designer Series Paper

So…

Let’s see what the STARS have created!

Stamping with the Stars #312 - Recessed Panel card #DOswts312 #CrackedPotStamper

Some of my favorite things about this card…

  • the sentiment was heat embossed with Copper Embossing Powder
  • the color combination of Mossy Meadow and Blushing Bride
  • and of course, the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper in the Recessed Panel

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Promenade Recessed Panel card created by Dawn Thomas #CrackedPotStamper #swts312

What did I use to create this beauty? (scroll down for complete supply list and links)

  • Stamp Set: Beautiful Promenade and Strong & Beautiful
  • Paper: Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper, Mossy Meadow, Thick Very Vanilla
  • Ink: Blushing Bride, Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow, Versamark
  • Accessories: Rose Metallic Thread, Petal Pink Rhinestone Gems, Copper Emboss Powder
  • Tools: Heat Tool, Big Shot, Beautiful Layers Thinlits, Stampin’ Trimmer
  • Adhesive: SNAIL, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Glue Dots
  • Technique: Heat Embossing and Recessed Panel
Cardstock Dimensions:
  • Thick Very Vanilla: 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″ (card base)
  • Very Vanilla: (2) 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″, scraps for flower & leaves
  • Mossy Meadow: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
  • Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
Instructions:
  1. Adhere Designer Series Paper onto folded card base.
  2. Cut both Very Vanilla and Mossy Meadow (5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″) panels at the same time.
    • Near the top left side, make a mark at 3/4″ & 1-1/8″.  On the right side, make a mark at 3″ down from the top.
    • For top “half” – start at 3/4″ mark on the left edge and cut diagonally over to 3″ mark on the right edge.  Trim off 1/8″ from top edge of Very Vanilla panel.
    • For bottom “half” – start at 1-1/8″ mark on the left edge and cut diagonally down to the bottom right corner of the panels.  Trim off 1/8″ from bottom edge of Very Vanilla panel.
  3. Adhere Very Vanilla and Mossy Meadow panels together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (see TIP below), aligned at the top & bottom edges.
  4. Before adhering cut panels to card base, heat emboss & stamp card front and inside panel. Adhere to card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  5. Stamp and die cut flower and leaves. Adhere to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  6. Write a personal note and drop in the mail to brighten someone’s day!
TIP:
Multipurpose Liquid Glue:
  • I like to use Multipurpose Liquid Glue for adhering the layers of this project because it allows me move my layers slightly if needed to make sure they are aligned properly due to it being a liquid and slower to dry than other adhesives.
Heat Emboss
  • Ink image with Versamark ink. Stamp on Very Vanilla Cardstock. Cover with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Remove excess and melt with Heat Tool.

Strong & Beautiful Diorama Card

The Strong & Beautiful Diorama card is a combination of several different ideas that came together beautifully!

The Stamping with the Stars group decided to create and share a Pop-Up Diorama card.

I had never made one before, but it was fun, easy and I am sure I will be making more in the future.

So…

Let’s see what everyone has created!

I love EVERYTHING about this card.

  • the soft colors-Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam, Fresh Fig
  • the muted patterns on the Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper
  • and of course, the Sparkle Glimmer Paper

Painted Harvest Birthday Card

A Painted Harvest Birthday conjures up ideas of falling leaves, hot apple cider and cooler weather.

The Thursday Challenge this week is a color challenge.

This week I was inspired by the color combination and if I had the Toil and Trouble Designer Series Paper it would have been a snap!

But…

that is the one pack of Designer Series Paper that I didn’t buy for some odd reason.

So…

I decided to find a way to combine the colors without the assistance of the Toil and Trouble Designer Series Paper and that super cutie patootie little witch and kitten.

Painted Harvest Birthday Card created by Dawn Thomas featuring Painted Harvest Stamp Set and Tufted Dynamic TIEF in rich autumn colors

What did I use to create this beauty? (scroll down for complete supply list and links)

  • Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody, Grapefruit Grove, Soft Suede & Early Espresso

Buffalo Check: Fall Banner

What would a Fall Banner be without some Buffalo Check?

When I started thinking about this project, I had about a million ideas running through my head (all in the middle of the night, of course).

After tossing and turning it over in my sleepless head, I finally had a plan and couldn’t wait until morning to start crafting.

You know…at 4am the house is very quiet.

I started the DOstamperSTARS Thursday “Color My World” Challenge as the starting point for my color inspiration.

Stampin' Up! Color Challenge featuring Blackberry Bliss, Cajun Craze and Old Olive. For details, click through to my blog #CrackedPotStamper #stampinup

I have to be honest…2 out of the 3 colors are NOT favorites of mine, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and use them. And I have to say, I am pleased with the end result.

What is your favorite color?

Blackberry Bliss is currently my favorite – I was thrilled when Stampin’ Up! brought it back!

I love that this project can be displayed for several months, welcoming people as they come into my home.

  • Tools: Big Shot, Large Letter Framelits, Delicate Lace Edgelits, Starburst Punch, 1/8″ Circle Handheld Punch
  • Adhesive: Foam Adhesive Strips, Tear & Tape
It’s All in the Details:
  • tone on tone stamping adds a subtle texture and pattern (the Blackberry Bliss was a bit camera shy, except for the close up)
  • Adhesive Foam Strips lift the Copper Glimmer letters up a bit, creating more interest for the eye

Sunshine Wishes Congrats Card

These thinlit dies, Sunshine Wishes, have been around for a couple years and I just LOVE them! I love the font of the script as well as the other shapes (heart, flower and butterfly) included in the set. This on definitely one of my “go-to” items in my stash of crafting tools.

The DOstamper STARS Thursday Challenge this week it is a “Sketch Pad” Challenge, I like these challenges because the design is done for me…all I have to do is add my favorites and I have a great card in a short time. If you are like me, the design phase takes the most time.

I love the simplicity and timelessness of this sketch, it could be used for every occasion. Seems to me that the options are endless. Want to see what I came up with?

Stampin' Up! Sunshine Wishes Congrats card created for DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge featuring Sunshine Wishes Thinlits and Designer Series Paper. For details and instructions, click through to my blog #CrackedPotStamper #stampinup #CongratsCard #SunshineWishes

What did I use to create this beauty? (scroll down for complete supply list and links)

  • Paper:
    • Garden Green: 4-1/4″ x 11″ card base, 1/2″ x 4-1/8″, scrap for “congrats”
    • Powder Pink: 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″
    • Wood Textures Designer Series Paper: 2″ x 4″
    • 2017-2019 In Color Designer Series Paper: 3-1/4″ x 4″
    • Vellum: 1″ x 5-1/2″
    • Gold Glimmer Paper: scrap for heart
  • Accessories: Linen Thread, Metallic Pearls
  • Tools: Big Shot, Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies
  • Adhesive: SNAIL, Glue Dots
It’s All in the Details:

I love how all the elements came together but my favorite part how the “congrats” is tucked under the Linen Thread in a few places. I did this for a couple reasons…1) it helped hold it in place without using a lot of adhesive and 2) it adds interest being woven into the thread.
